“I am/was following orders” is still being used by, as documented on various YouTube videos, officials trying to halt others recording in space when recording is legally permitted but someone in the hierarchy doesn’t like it to be allowed. Even when the authorizing regulation is presented to the restricting person, they refuse to accept versus the unwritten orders they have been given.
